I went and saw Captain Phillips at the movie theater with my mom this past weekend. I was such a great movie! Tom Hanks and Barkhad Abdi stole the show! The completely consumed themselves into these character both physically and emotionally. The last ten minutes is amazing and will bring you to tears.
What I don't get, is when I read headlines like this on the newspaper... "Some saying real Captain Phillips was not like character portrayed in new film"
This article basically says that says that Captain Phillips was not the true hero depicted on film. He had been warned by the crew to not get so close to the Somali waters but he didn't listen to them, For this reason there are 11 crew members that want to sue.
I just think all of this is silly because the film was amazing and the credit should be given to the film makers for making it so well and for giving us a little bit of an idea of what happened in our history. Credit should also be given to The actors for giving us such and emotionally intense film. Barkhad Abdi was a bad pirate but still I felt sorry for him. He played his role so well and I just felt for him and his situation.
I wont go any further before I give everything away but I hope you all see the film and read the article and give me your feed back.
